Nowhere Good
(4/09-5PM)

The film portrays the gritty journey of an aging woman (Kim Rhodes, Supernatural and The Suite Life of Zack & Cody) who has spent her life grifting in order to survive, and the unwelcome mess that ensues when forced to confront choices from her past. Kim Rhodes delivers a nuanced and compelling performance in this story of a woman and her struggles. Jacob A. Ware (Boardwalk Empire, Law & Order) displays great depth in his role opposite Rhodes. He provides the perfect foil to Rhodes’ character with whom she can spar. Films about aging or middle-aged female protagonists are not common, but their voices and viewpoints deserve representation on screen.

Free Syria follows a country at a rare moment of possibility, where the relief of newfound freedom sits beside the hardship that pushed so many Syrians to leave. It shows glimpses of life opening up again—people reconnecting, businesses stirring back to life—while never losing sight of how much was lost under decades of repression.
